Granddaughters Meeting Shawn Mendes On The Street In Philly

My granddaughters Abby and Maggie have had a crush on Shawn Mendes for a couple of years. They have seen him three times in concert. Today Abby had an appointment at CHOP in Philly for the migraines she has had since she was a toddler. On their way from the appointment they were passing by the Ritz Carlton where they thought he was staying because he's doing a concert at Penn's Landing later today for the Big Eagles Preseason game.
They saw a bunch of girls nearby and on a hunch Mommy and girls decided to get out of their car and join them.
Just as they passed the entrance to the hotel look who walked out the door!

I think Maggie is in shock! Abby looks elated!

A little history on how much these granddaughters love Shawn Mendes:

August 20, 2016 My granddaughters Abby & Maggie both have a crush on Shawn Mendes who is their mother Jami's equivalent teen crush Barry Manilow! Well tonight they are getting a chance to see Shawn Mendes in concert! My goodness Abby is almost 14 and has a bucket list! Geez, I didn't even know what a bucket list was when I was 14! She is whitening her teeth.

The Show Of The Summer Hershey Park Cousin Emily came along too! Emily is an accomplished singer and now performing with Finn Blind in coffee houses in Germany. This is Emily singing Heartbreak Blue written and composed in the studio of and by a former Spin Doctor guitarist in New Jersey.

Diane's Banana Pineapple Cake

Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 2/3 cups sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 heaping teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 eggs
1/2 cups canola oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup fresh crushed pineapple
4 overly ripe bananas that I saved in freezer & thawed

Prepare Pan: Cooking spray the pan and flour it.

I first beat bananas, pineapple, vanilla, oil, eggs, and sugar together with mixer then added flour, salt, b.soda, b. powder, cinnamon to that and blended it all together. I poured it into a prepared spring form pan but you can use any cake pan you wish to use. Bake at 350 approx 50 minutes check to make sure a tooth pic or knife comes out clean.

We chose to eat it plain because of Roger's issues with eating too much sugar. But it would be extra tasty with cream cheese frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting

In a large bowl, beat together the 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup cream cheese with an electric mixer. With the mixer on low speed, add two cups powdered sugar a cup at a time until smooth and creamy. Beat in one teaspoon of vanilla extract.
